‘I really want to be happy again, I want to find me again, I want to live and not just exist anymore….
but it’s not the right time, my car needs replacing first…’
This was a conversation I had with a lady a couple of weeks ago and very similar to a lot of conversations that I have with women on a daily basis who are ready to commit to becoming the best version of themselves but when push comes to shove they prioritize other things in life.
So let’s talk about the female guilt associated with prioritising ourselves…
I don’t know any woman that isn’t plagued by it, including me. Most women have been conditioned from a young age to be nice and accommodating. And that’s okay…to an extent.
But if too many of our decisions and choices are guided by other people’s feelings and perceptions, where do our own needs and desires fit in?
As females we place a pecking order on our lives:
- Kids
- Partner
- House
- Career
- Friends
- Holidays
- New Clothes
- New Car
Everything else and the kitchen sink then…
OURSELVES ….
