Last year was very tough for every one of us, different struggles, stresses and strict rules left us tired. Feeling down and very likely with few more pounds to carry. It’s been very difficult, to say the least, but everyone has been trying to find some kind of comfort in all this madness.
Recent studies in behavioural changes during lockdown in health and wellbeing reviled that (from 1.6 million people being tested) 35% said they had increased snacking and 34% had decreased level of physical activity. No wonder then that so many people are unhappy with their weight and overall health.
Many people are looking for a quick fix, amazing pills, or a magic diet, but I’m sorry to say that there is no such thing. If you want to get fit, healthy, feel better, stronger and look like a million bucks, you simply have to put in some work. I know that time is an issue but as a mum of 2 young children and personal trainer I will have to say: that nothing is impossible! I understand that exercising after hard and stressful day is not on top of your list of things to do but you have to put your priorities straight and take care of yourself – not only for yourself, but for your family.
Start simple, form healthy and balanced diet with variety of different foods. Eat your vegetables, add some lean protein (like chicken, turkey, eggs, fish), make sure you have some healthy fats too (olive oil, nuts, avocado), and incorporate whole carbs (ex. whole grains, quinoa, wholemeal pasta, legumes, potatoes.). Season all well with fresh herbs, spices and garlic – it will help you to elevate simple meals to 4 stars restaurant dishes. I have prepared a sample diet for you, hopefully this will get you started.
